We can announce some very important news for the BHBPA this week. It was decided that Susan Fleet would move into the role of Chair following the recent departure of Paul Shearing after three years at the helm. As Coordinator I am delighted that we have found a solution which will ensure the smooth progress of the BHBPA. As Chair, Susan could hardly do more than she already does on a regular basis for the Association. No-one has a greater knowledge and experience of the organisation and I feel sure everyone will wish her the best as she takes on the role.
Susan Fleet founded Lea Graham Associates in March 1986 and has been involved with the business parks ever since that time – in those days it was the Burgess Hill Industrial Group and it was very different from the BHBPA! She worked on the Victoria Business Park for ten years and continues to run her business from the town. Three members of her team also have strong connections with Burgess Hill.
Susan has lived in Burgess Hill for much of her life. She grew up near St John’s Park and attended Oakmeeds School in the 70s. (She claims to have been taught by a Mr Liddell 100 years ago but there may be a sliver of hyperbole in this). She has always immersed herself in the life of the town and is still heavily involved in singing and acting. She recently had a professional CD of her singing produced which is available to purchase.
Susan has been a director of the BHBPA for ten years and has been involved with all the exhibitions and the awards evening last year. She has been a consistent and very hardworking member of the Steering Group for more than 11 years. Paul’s shoes will be hard to fill but she looks forward to the challenge and to another exciting year with the BHBPA.
"I am delighted to have a long-standing relationship with the BHBPA. Since its foundation the Association has gone from strength to strength and there is no doubt that it has brought huge benefits to its members and the business community as a whole through the partnerships it has formed with the local authorities, Sussex Police and local organisations. It is paramount that Burgess Hill businesses have an effective collective voice."
"“I can’t speak highly enough of the BHBPA. As a small local business we feel very much part of a community and thoroughly enjoy the annual exhibition and meetings throughout the year. Over the years we have built fantastic working relationships with many BHBPA members and every meeting and event offers us opportunities to work with more. This is networking at its best! ” "
"“We have been members of BHBPA from its inception, and seen the organisation steadily grow and expand into the dynamic entity it is today, bringing positive benefits to all its members.""
"The BHBPA is an energetic and vocal organisation that connects and empowers and informs the local business community acting as an effective conduit to local authority and other organisations. We are proud to be part of that community and the association."
