Flipping great as insurers shell out for charity!
Game for a laugh insurance brokers Bennett Christmas may or may not break a record on Shrove Tuesday – but they’ll sure crack a lot of eggs as they shell out for charity.
Staff at Burgess Hill-based firm Bennett Christmas hatched a plan to see how close they could get to the world pancake tossing record of 140 flips in 60 seconds after Associate Director, Andy Macauley started bringing eggs laid by his chickens into the office.
Andy, who lives in Cowfold, eggs-changes them for donations to Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance, where his son Ben works, but it was CEO Mark Bennett who cooked up the idea for a charity challenge.
“I’ve been keeping chickens in my back garden for more than a decade,” said Andy. “The eldest is nine years old, so it’s great we can still use her to build a little nest egg (pun intended) for charity.
“People are always very generous with their donations, and it’s great to be able to have a bit of fun, too. The Bennett Christmas team actually used them before Christmas for our festive bake-off, and it made perfect sense to use them for Shrove Tuesday as well.”
Cash raised from the sponsored flip will go to the company’s adopted charity St Peter & St James Hospice at Chailey.
